1968 Morris 1800s MkII Landcrab Sold - £POA

This car was one of 5 ex-demonstrator cars especially built for privateer entries on the 1968 LONDON TO MEXICO WORLD CUP RALLY.

The car was built by the BMC Special Tuning department at Abingdon run by Basil Wales, using many parts derived from the works entered cars. It has fibreglass doors, bootlid, and bonnet along with perspex windows to reduce weight. The engine was blueprinted and overbored with a high compression head and twin 2 inch SUs. These engines developed 130 BHP.

It has a works sump and hydrolastic handpump fitted in the car along with works style dash, map pockets and many other original works ST parts.

The World Cup Rally was a very tough event - only 23 cars out of 100 starters made it to the finish. this car did better than most, retiring with a holed sump near Sao Paulo in Brazil.

There is a large spares package with spare fuel tanks, engine block, and a complete donor car if required.

The current owner has rebuilt the engine and fitted a new gearbox and new brakes.

Being sold with current MOT, this car is perfectly useable as is but would benefit from further fettling and tidying.
